On September 20, the Shenandoah County Historical Society presented its annual awards "recognizing outstanding preservation projects in the fields of history, architecture, scenic beauty and material culture."
Among awardees were plein air painter Andrei Kushnir, for his book Oh, Shenandoah, Paintings of the Historic Valley and River, and principal author, Jeffrey Everett, whose historical vignettes were featured prominently in the project. The reception and presentation, at the beautiful Barn of Belgravia, Edinburg, VA, was attended by members of the Shenandoah County Historical Society and others, including the book's publisher, George F. Thompson, builder and philanthropist Sid Stern, and Mr. Stern's fiance, Ms. Conni Allen.
Oh, Shenandoah, distributed by the University of Virginia Press, has received enthusiastic reviews in the Chaltottesville, VA, Daily Progress, the Harrisonburg, VA, Daily News-Record, the nationally published Maine Antique Digest, and all 5 star ratings on the book's Amazon website.

The Virginia Museum of History & Culture is presenting an exhibition of 52 paintings from Andrei Kushnir's book, Oh, Shenandoah, showcasing the beauty and vitality of the Shenandoah Valley.
