Artist's Statement
I am fully committed to painting, and feel that it communicates
most sensitively the commonalities of human experience, and the subtleties of perception that truly make art enriching. It
is my belief that education, depth of thought and the ability to reach inside and express oneself can lead to the
kind of work which uplifts the spirit and is a true legacy for mankind.
Art defines attitudes and beliefs about the world
that cannot be expressed in words. I believe art must be sincere, not cynical, timeless, not trendy, and be able to communicate
through imagery in ways that walk the line between symbol and narrative. Style must develop naturally, deep from
within and is the product of study and experience. The depth of the artist's self knowledge is what gives meaning to
the artist's work, and allows the artist to communicate the essence of what it is to be human. Words are such fragile things with which to communicate. I use the tools of
color, image, symbol, texture, and line to say what I truly mean.
